A while back we broke the news that director Jorma Taccone was talking about making a sequel to 'MacGruber.' Will Forte was recently at a press conference for 'That's My Boy' and suggested it would never happen. But now, now there's some hope of a 'MacGruber 2.'

Fred Topel talked to Forte for Craveonline and Forte said this:

“I guess the best way to put it is the probability of us writing a 'Macgruber 2' script in the next six months is 100%. The probability of somebody giving us money to make that script is somewhat less than 100%. We would do it if someone were to let us do it.”

Over the weekend there were jokes about the film getting funding from Kickstarter, which isn't as implausible as it sounds. Currently there have been projects that cost $3 Million funded through the program, so why not something like $10-$20 Million?

It seems like an awful lot to ask of fans, but with the film currently being shown constantly on HBO, and this renewed sense of interest, it's possible that the sequel - if done on a budget - could happen through a studio seeing this groundswell of interest. Hopefully it's not just internet journalists who want it.
