'X-Men: Days of Future Past' Rogue Cut Is 11 Minutes Longer

Days of Future Past, director Bryan Singer took to Twitter to clarify:

“A few little changes”? In addition to replacing Rogue’s cut storyline, it seems that Singer also made a few tweaks to the overall film, which should be interesting.

Late last year we learned that Fox was planning to release a “Rogue Cut” of X-Men: Days of Future Past, which would include previously deleted footage of Anna Paquin’s Rogue, whose story arc had been removed from the film due to time constraints. If you’re a fan of Rogue, then the planned release of the Rogue Cut is great news. But just how much footage are we talking here? Five minutes? An entire 20 minute chunk? The answer is about 11 minutes. That’s 11 minutes of previously unseen Anna Paquin action!

X-Men writer and producer Simon Kinberg had previously discussed the cuts made to the film, noting that there was about 10 minutes of footage they had to trim due to time, and it was all very Rogue-centric. That was followed by the announcement that Kinberg and director Bryan Singer were planning on releasing a Rogue Cut this year, so we could all see what our favorite untouchable mutant was up to.

According to Empire, the upcoming special edition featuring the extended Rogue Cut was submitted to the BBFC, who “rated the extended edit as a 12 and lists the running time as 142 minutes and 37 seconds.” That’s 11 minutes longer than the 131-minute theatrical version — 11 minutes and 11 seconds longer, to be exact.

Last we heard, according to a Fox executive, the Rogue Cut of X-Men: Days of Future Past will hit shelves this summer.
