Well, we knew this day was coming. The moment 'American Horror Story' revealed that season 4 would inhabit a terrifying 'Freak Show,' we knew that the worst of horror's worst would be on the way: clowns. And while we still don't know exactly what this year's big bad clown killer "Twisty" looks like, the latest teasers and details will already have you running for the hills.

Courtesy of BuzzFeed, the latest creepy teaser for 'American Horror Story' freak show features a similarly-demented clown to one we'd glimpsed in earlier spots, though not necessarily reflective of the actual Twisty design, which has been said to be wearing a mask over the lower half of his face. Another teases some more outright horrors of the 'Freak Show' pulling small children underneath one of its tents. As for John Carroll Lynch's actual character, Lynch told BuzzFeed of his attraction to the part:

His actions are horrific, but his motives are really strangely, oddly pure. And that’s what is most human and most disturbing about it. As an actor, I’ve given up judgement of evil, as long as it’s human evil — we have to see ourselves for what we really are, and we’re capable of horrific things.

I don’t intend to advocate for the horrific characters, but I hope they reflect humanity at its most vicious because we need to really look at ourselves and see it. Otherwise, we’re deluding ourselves into thinking we’re not capable of it. I know that I’m capable of doing anything that I’ve done as any character I’ve played. I’m grateful I’m not drawn to doing it, so I haven’t done it, but I’m capable.

Premiering Wednesday, October 8, here's how FX officially describes its fourth season 'Freak Show':

'American Horror Story: Freak Show' begins its tale in the quiet, sleepy hamlet of Jupiter, Florida. The year is 1952. A troupe of curiosities has just arrived to town, coinciding with the strange emergence of a dark entity that savagely threatens the lives of townsfolk and freaks alike. This is the story of the performers and their desperate journey of survival amidst the dying world of the American carny experience.

The new ‘Freak Show’ season will see franchise veteran Jessica Lange as Elsa Mars, a German ex-patriot running one of the last American freak shows, which includes rescued “unusuals” from the likes of ‘Coven‘ and franchise stars Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Gabourey Sidibe, Sarah Paulson, Denis O’Hare, Evan PetersEmma Roberts and Frances Conroy. ‘The Shield’ star Michael Chiklis will portray a strongman husband to Bassett’s character, 'The Normal Heart' stars Matt Bomer and Finn Wittrock will both take new roles, and Wes Bentley will guest in a Halloween arc.

Additionally, singer Patti LaBelle will play Gabourey Sidibe's mother, and the world's smallest woman Jyoti Amge will guest as a small, well, you get it. Lest we forget, there are also over a dozen photos from the new season, and a score of other details teased from Comic-Con 2014.

We've included the newest teasers above and below, but what do you think? Could Ryan Murphy be right to warn us of Lynch's Twisty killer? How do you think 'American Horror Story: Freak Show' will hold up against its predecessors?
