It may not have Miley Cyrus in the lead, but History and Lifetime's collaborative 'Bonnie & Clyde' miniseries will prove to be a star-studded affair nonetheless. Previously casting Hollywood stars William Hurt and Holly Hunter, the upcoming miniseries has finally cast its iconic leads with 'Into the Wild' star Emile Hirsch and 'The Borgias' star Holliday Grainger. Will the updated 'Bonnie & Clyde' prove a modern classic akin to 'Hatfields and McCoys,' or end up shot by the roadside?

For as many attempts to revitalize the classic tale of 'Bonnie & Clyde' over the years, History and Lifetime's upcoming miniseries may prove the most successful yet. A joint venture of A&E Networks airing on both History and Lifetime simultaneously, the upcoming four-part 'Bonnie & Clide' miniseries has found its leads with Emile Hirsch and Holliday Grainger as the eponymous Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker.

Hirsch and Grainger join a star-studded cast that includes Holly Hunter as Bonnie's mother Emma Parker, and William Hurt as Texas Ranger Frank Hamer, best known for catching up to the titular couple, and well...doing justice's work. Miley Cyrus had originally been reported in the running for the role of Bonnie, but dropped the project for unknown reasons.

Produced by 'Smash's' Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, and directed by 'Driving Miss Daisy' helmer Bruce Beresford, the updated version of 'Bonnie & Clyde' is of course based on the real-life story of bank robbing fugitive couple Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow. Spoiler alert, it doesn't end well.

What say you? Does History have another hit miniseries on its hands, or will 'Bonnie & Clyde' fall flat? Give us your thoughts on Hirsch and Grainger in the comments!
