Fans of 'The Flash' and his many forms took the upcoming CW spinoff's casting of 1990 CBS 'Flash' star John Wesley Shipp as a fun nod to its TV predecessor, but the coming DC drama has doubled down on the homage in a major way. Not only will original series star Amanda Pays guest on the CW's 'Flash' this fall, but she'll do so as her 1990 DC character Dr. Tina McGee!

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Pays originally played DC's Dr. Tina McGee in the 1990 CBS series as an expert geneticist, and love interest to John Wesley Shipp's Barry Allen, but in the 2014 CW incarnation will arrive as an employee of STAR Labs' rival agency. Shipp, of course, has long since been confirmed to play Barry (Grant Gustin)' father Henry Allen, erroneously incarcerated for the murder of his wife Nora.

Greenlit for (at least) 13 episodes, ‘The Flash’ also boasts among its cast Tom Cavanaugh’s Dr. Harrison Wells, Candice Batton's Iris West, Danielle Panabaker's Caitlin Snow and Carlos Valdes’ Cisco RamonJesse L. Martin’s Detective West and ‘The Vampire Diaries‘ star Rick Cosnett as Central City Police transfer Detective Eddie Thawne.

Additionally, 'Arrow' star Stephen Amell's cousin Robbie has also signed on to play an incarnation of DC superhero Firestorm, joining such colorful DC characters as Kelly Frye's Plastique, 'Prison Break' stars Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell as Captain Cold and Heat Wave, Robert Knepper's returning Clock King, Greg Finley's Girder, and Clancy Brown's General Wade Eiling.

Unfortunately, we imagine Mark Hamill to be too busy these days to reprise his role as the Trickster, but what do you think of our modern-day 'Flash' rolling back the Cosmic Treadmill to bring in some 1990 series stars? Watch the latest trailer and original opening below, and tell us what you want to see when The CW premieres 'The Flash' on October 7!
