Disney’s ‘Star Wars Rebels’ Sets Official October Premiere

Disney XD’s ‘Star Wars Rebels‘ has been artfully teasing us for its fall premiere with a series of short clips from the new animated series, though fans finally have a target to stay on for the official premiere. The network has officially granted ‘Star Wars Rebels’ a one-hour October debut, but how can Disney viewers see the premiere even earlier?

Verified users will be able to watch the one-hour movie premiere of ‘Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion’ on WatchDisneyXD.com, as well as its associated app and VOD on Monday, September 29. For the rest of us, the series will debut in its proper Disney Channel location on Friday, October 3 at 9:00 P.M.

October 4 will see the series becoming available on Disney XD VOD, as well as Apple iTunes, Amazon Instant Video and Google Play, finally airing on Disney XD on Monday, October 6 at 8:00 P.M. After that, we can expect new regular ‘Star Wars Rebels’ episodes on Monday, October 13 at 9:00 P.M.

Had enough? No, Well, you can also own ‘Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion’ on DVD as early as October 14, the complete package of which includes the movie, a free Ghost 3D model ship, the four ‘Star Wars Rebels’ shorts, plus a never-before-seen piece that goes deeper into the world of ‘Star Wars Rebels’ and its upcoming season.

For those unaware, ‘Star Wars Rebels’ features a cast that also includes the Luke Skywalker-esque Ezra Bridger (Noah Taylor), cowboy Jedi Kanan (Freddie Prinze Jr.), Twi’lek pilot Hera (Vanessa Marshall), spunky Mandalorian explosives expert Sabine (Tiya Sircar), cat-like astromech droid Chopper, and the brutish and brilliant Zeb (Steve Blum). ‘The Butler’ star David Oyelowo will play the recurring villain Agent Kallus, while ‘Harry Potter‘ baddie Jason Isaacs voices the Jedi-hunting Inquisitor.

Picking up where the canceled ‘Clone Wars‘ left off, ‘Star Wars Rebels’ will feature screenwriter and producer Simon Kinberg (‘X-Men: Days of Future Past‘), who wrote the first episode, on the creative side. Elsewhere, here’s everything we know from the official ‘Star Wars Rebels’ logline:

‘Star Wars Rebels’ continues the epic tradition of the legendary ‘Star Wars’ saga with all-new exciting, action-packed adventures. It is a dark time in the galaxy, as the evil Galactic Empire tightens its grip of power from world to world. As the series begins, Imperial forces have occupied a remote planet, ruling with an iron fist and ruining the lives of its people.

But there are a select few who are brave enough to stand up against the endless Stormtroopers and TIE fighters of the Empire: the clever and motley crew of the starship “Ghost.” Together, this ragtag group will face threatening new villains, have thrilling adventures, and become heroes.
