FOX’s ‘Gotham’ has taken stabs at multiple characters of Batman lore in the past few weeks, from The Electrocutioner to Arnold Flass, but this coming Monday may see the most prequel-y origin yet. Meet Scarecrow’s pappy in a new trailer and first photos from ‘Gotham’'s introduction to “The Fearsome Dr. Crane!”

While the photos themselves don’t highlight the titular Gerald Crane (‘Smallville’ star Julian Sands), the newest trailer teases the villain’s origins with a killer targeting phobic victims, removing their adrenal glands before death. Meanwhile, photos from the hour show that Gordon finally catches the Cat napping in his (or Barbara’s?) apartment, and Fish Mooney isn’t quite so down and out as her last appearance led us to believe. Also, Jim and Leslie Thompkins go on a date! So, you know, there’s that.

Here’s how FOX describe’s Monday’s “The Fearsome Dr. Crane,” which itself will be followed by the subsequent week’s outright “Scarecrow”:

Fish Mooney reveals a secret of Oswald Cobblepot’s, prompting Maroni to take him on a trip to test his loyalty. Meanwhile, Gordon and Bullock hunt down a killer who targets victims with severe phobias and Bruce Wayne confronts Gordon for failing to make progress on his parents’ murder case in the all-new “The Fearsome Dr. Crane” episode of GOTHAM airing Monday, Feb. 2.

Of course, the elder Dr. Crane (and his son Jonathan) aren’t the only Bat-characters to arrive in the coming weeks, as additional DC characters welcomed to the fold will include Colm Feore’s Dollmaker, the villainous Red Hood gang, as well as Dick Grayson’s parents. Hooray! In the meantime, check out the full photos and trailers for “The Fearsome Dr. Crane” above and below, and give us your Bat-predictions in the comments!
