‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Blasts Out Rocket Raccoon’s Backstory in New Clips
One of the more interesting elements of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy animated series has afforded movie-influenced backstories to each character, that while not necessarily canon, offer insightful looks into the character history James Gunn could only exposit in the film. Next up comes Rocket Raccoon, whose gruesome origins are a tough one to tackle for Disney XD.
Following Star-Lord and Groot, Guardians of the Galaxy’s look back at Rocket’s origin doesn’t quiet get into all the “torn apart” suggestions of the film, but still goes mildly dark in exploring the weapons training and enhancement Rocket underwent. Groot too, gets a strong spotlight as we see the origins of their friendship, as well as the “anger issues” that Bradley Cooper’s iteration displayed through the film.
Premiering through August and September, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy features Will Friedle as Star-Lord, David Sobolov as Drax, Vanessa Marshall as Gamora, Kevin Michael Richardson as Groot and Trevor Devall as Rocket Raccoon, and James Arnold Taylor as both Yondu and Cosmo. So reads the full synopsis:
