The broadcast TV season has all but come to a close, and summer cookouts will arrive sooner than you think with Hannibal Season 3's June 4 premiere. Now, the first “Antipasto” synopsis has arrived teasing Hannibal’s new life in Italy, but what surprise guests might make for the first course?

According to NBC’s synopsis, Eddie Izzard will reprise his role as the nefarious Dr. Abel Gideon, especially intriguing, given the state we last saw the character in. Flashbacks seem the best bet, as Heroes alum Zachary Quinto will also put in an appearance, as “Antipasto” dips into the past relationship between Hannibal and Bedelia (Gillian Anderson)

HANNIBAL IS ON THE RUN - EDDIE IZZARD AND ZACHARY QUINTO GUEST STAR – Having successfully escaped FBI capture, Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) is moving through the European landscape, with Bedelia Du Maurier (Gillian Anderson) in tow.But Dr. Lecter’s old habits and opulent tastes are still on display as he settles into a new identity and life in Florence, Italy, working at the Palazzo Capponi museum. Glimpses into the past help inform his relationship with Bedelia, a pairing not clearly defined as friend or foe.

Most recently adding True Detective‘s Glenn Fleshler as Cordell, personal physician to Mason Verger (Joe Anderson, replacing Michael Pitt), we also know of Hannibal Season 3 that Gillian Anderson has been upgraded to series regular. The Hobbit star Richard Armitage, True Blood vet Rutina Wesley and Nina Arianda will play Red Dragon characters Francis Dolarhyde, Reba McClane and Molly, respectively, while Raul Esparza will return to the role of Dr. Frederick Chilton.

The new season will pick up with Hannibal and Bedelia’s new life on the lam, also incorporating such other literary Thomas Harris figures as Hannibal novel character Inspector Rinaldo Pazzi. Additionally, Batman vs. Superman and The Wolverine star Tao Okamoto has been confirmed to play the role of Chiyo, attendant to Hannibal’s “aunt” Lady Murasaki.

Hannibal Season 3 will premiere on June 4, but what other dead characters might pop up for the next Bryan Fuller feast?
