For as many photos and casting announcements as 'How I Met Your Mother' has seen fit to throw at fans in advance of the final season's September 23 premiere, we haven't seen much of the mother herself (Cristin Milioti) since season 8 finale "Something New." That all changes with the latest CBS promo, as we learn Lily (Alyson Hannigan) to be the first from the group to actually meet the mother, which doesn't go as well as fans might hope.

The brief new spot for CBS' "Mother of all Mondays" offers up our freshest footage yet of the 'How I Met Your Mother' season 9 premiere, "The Locket" / "Coming Back," wherein we see it's Lily who first meets the mother on a train, presumably to the Farhampton wedding. The pair don't look to get along too well, while Lily presumably ends up on the train to get away from Ted's obsessive road-trip planning. Looks like Ted and his future bride might have something in common right off the bat!

Meanwhile, the final season of ‘How I Met Your Mother’ has recruited such guest stars as 'True Blood' star Anna Camp (replacing 'The Office''s Ellie Kemper), ‘Revenge‘ star Roger BartSherri Shepherd, and Wayne Brady and John Lithgow reprising their roles as Barney’s half-brother James and biological father Jerry. In addition to clarifying the final season’s wedding weekend format and releasing new promos, clips and photos, CBS previously revealed that all four regulars would meet the mother prior to Ted.
