Yesterday, Marvel's 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' offered a cryptic season 2 tease in the form of a mysterious billboard looming over Los Angeles, but today's big reveal flies far higher. One-time 'Wonder Woman' star and all-around asskicker Adrianne Palicki is officially trading DC for Marvel, signing onto 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' season 2 as the show's first ostensible costumed hero, Bobbi "Mockingbird" Morse.

First teased in Patton Oswalt's Comic-Con 2014 video, The Hollywood Reporter reveals that 'G.I. Joe: Retaliation' and 'Friday Night Lights' star Palicki will appear in the second season's fifth episode as Bobbi Morse, with the potential to return, though THR notes that the "Mockingbird" could arrive "perhaps not as an ally." For her part, Morse has been represented through Marvel mythology as a top S.H.I.E.L.D. agent and costumed vigilante, though usually without any actual superpowers. Mockingbird also shares a romantic past with Hawkeye (played by Jeremy Renner in the MCU), and is frequently depicted as a member of the West Coast Avengers.

Elsewhere of 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' season 2, we know that 'Xena' star Lucy Lawless will play veteran S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Isabel Hartley, while Nick Blood will join as mercenary and comic S.T.R.I.K.E. character Lance Hart. ‘Dollhouse’ star and Whedon favorite Reed Diamond will play Daniel Whitehall (Secret Wars’ Kraken) as a Hydra baddie, while 'Twin Peaks' Kyle MacLachlan will appear as Skye's apparently-gooey father. Additionally, we know Adrian Pasdar's Glenn Talbot will return to menace the team, while Cobie Smulders' Maria Hill has been confirmed for an eventual reappearance, as well.

We're keeping an open mind on 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' season 2, now that 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' won't be throwing any further wrenches into the works, but what say you? Does Adrianne Palicki's appearance as Marvel's Mockingbird have you excited for new episodes? Tell us in the comments what you want to see when Marvel's 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' returns for season 2 on September 23!
