'Star Wars Rebels' Casting: Jason Isaacs to Voice the Jedi Inquisitor?Kevin Fitzpatrick |
It's been a good long while since we've heard anything from the front of 'Star Wars Rebels,' the forthcoming animated TV series. Though, in spite of the many character reveals and teaser trailers, at least one aspect of the new Disney XD series has remained a mystery. The show hasn't officially confirmed the voice behind its Jedi-hunting baddie "The Inquisitor," but a new report suggests 'Harry Potter' villain Jason Isaacs might be our man.
Taken with a grain of salt for now, the new rumor comes from TheForce.net from an insider supposedly working on the show, who also seemingly confirms that Obi-Wan Kenobi will indeed be present for the premiere in some form. Perhaps most interestingly of all, the report identifies the two-part premiere's main villain as Agent Kallus, as voiced by David Oyelowo.
Premiering this fall on Disney XD, ‘Star Wars Rebels’ features a cast that includes “Ghost” pilot Hera (Vanessa Marshall), brutish and brilliant Zeb (Steve Blum), spunky Mandalorian Sabine (Tiya Sircar), “cowboy Jedi” Kanan (Freddie Prinze Jr.), and the Luke Skywalker-esque Ezra Bridger (Noah Taylor), along with the crew’s feisty droid Chopper.
Picking up where the now-canceled ‘Clone Wars‘ left off, ‘Star Wars Rebels’ will feature screenwriter and producer Simon Kinberg ('X-Men: Days of Future Past'), who wrote the first episode, on the creative side. Elsewhere, here’s everything we know from the official ‘Star Wars Rebels’ logline:
‘Star Wars Rebels’ continues the epic tradition of the legendary ‘Star Wars’ saga with all-new exciting, action-packed adventures. It is a dark time in the galaxy, as the evil Galactic Empire tightens its grip of power from world to world. As the series begins, Imperial forces have occupied a remote planet, ruling with an iron fist and ruining the lives of its people.
But there are a select few who are brave enough to stand up against the endless Stormtroopers and TIE fighters of the Empire: the clever and motley crew of the starship “Ghost.” Together, this ragtag group will face threatening new villains, have thrilling adventures, and become heroes.
We'll keep an ear out to see if Isaacs is indeed the voice behind the mysterious Inquisitor, but what do you think? Are you looking forward to 'Star Wars Rebels' premiering this fall? Watch the trailer again below, and give us your thoughts in the comments!
