Last week saw upcoming Disney XD animated series 'Star Wars Rebels' debuting the first 7 minutes of its fall premiere online, but fans won't have to wait that long for a fresh take on the new 'Star Wars' saga set between trilogies. Check out a brand-new look at 'Star Wars Rebels' with an online short showing the crew of the starship Ghost as they take on a squadron of Imperial TIE fighters!
Airing in its proper place tonight after Disney XD's 'Gravity Falls' (9:00 P.M.), the new 'Star Was Rebels' clip "The Machine in the Ghost" is the first of four all-new shorts that will debut on the network over the next few Mondays. In tonight's premiere installment, we see how Twi'lek pilot Hera (Vanessa Marshall), cowboy Jedi Kanan (Freddie Prinze Jr.) and the cat-like astromech Chopper handle teamwork on the Ghost in the midst of a TIE fighter attack.
Premiering this fall on Disney XD, ‘Star Wars Rebels’ features a cast that also includes the Luke Skywalker-esque Ezra Bridger (Noah Taylor), brutish and brilliant Zeb (Steve Blum), and spunky Mandalorian Sabine (Tiya Sircar). 'The Butler' star David Oyelowo will play the recurring villain Agent Kallus, while 'Harry Potter' baddie Jason Isaacs voices the Jedi-hunting Inquisitor.
Picking up where the canceled ‘Clone Wars‘ left off, ‘Star Wars Rebels’ will feature screenwriter and producer Simon Kinberg ('X-Men: Days of Future Past'), who wrote the first episode, on the creative side. Elsewhere, here’s everything we know from the official ‘Star Wars Rebels’ logline:
‘Star Wars Rebels’ continues the epic tradition of the legendary ‘Star Wars’ saga with all-new exciting, action-packed adventures. It is a dark time in the galaxy, as the evil Galactic Empire tightens its grip of power from world to world. As the series begins, Imperial forces have occupied a remote planet, ruling with an iron fist and ruining the lives of its people.
But there are a select few who are brave enough to stand up against the endless Stormtroopers and TIE fighters of the Empire: the clever and motley crew of the starship “Ghost.” Together, this ragtag group will face threatening new villains, have thrilling adventures, and become heroes.
