Comic-Con 2013 has unveiled its full panel schedule for opening day on Thursday, July 18. Among the many TV and comic book panels are a few big movies (and big names) for you to look forward to, including 'Ender's Game,' 'Divergent,' and a chat with Edgar Wright, Alfonso Cuaron, and Marc Webb.
Although 'The Hunger Games' seems to be doing an excellent job of filling the young adult movie void left by the conclusion of the 'Harry Potter' and 'Twilight' franchises, there's still plenty of room for others to rise to the occasion. Could the upcoming 'Divergent' be the next big thing? Maybe. We'll get our first inkling of what's to come with this one when the film's first footage premieres at Comic-Con 2013.
In the hierarchy of movies based on Young Adult novels, 'Divergent' and 'The Mortal Instruments' have pulled ahead in the ranks. The Shailene Woodley- and Lily Collins-led films are prepping for their respective premieres on March 21, 2014 and August 23, 2013, and already their sequels are in the works. Get ready for 'Divergent 2' (aka 'Insurgent') and 'The Mortal Instruments 2' (aka 'City of Ashes')!
Shailene Woodley is one busy lady. In addition to starring alongside Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone in 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2,' she's currently filming 'Divergent,' an adaptation of the first book in a Young Adult trilogy written by Veronica Roth. Although it's too early to say if this could be the next 'The Hunger Games' or 'Twilight,' our first official look at Woodley in the film has arrived, giving all of the fans something to talk about.
Et tu, Kate Winslet? There must be something about this 'Divergent' movie because it is racking up some serious talent. It's been finally confirmed that Winslet has officially joined the cast of the upcoming film, led by Shailene Woodley.
Some have been wondering if Shailene Woodley's starring role in 'Divergent' will transform her into the next big Young Adult movie sensation in the vein of Jennifer Lawrence and Kristen Stewart. Can the same now be said of Theo James, who has just been cast in the male lead?
Neil Burger's 'Divergent,' one of the latest Young Adult novels getting a feature film adaptation, continues to beef up the casting around lead Shailene Woodley. The latest to join the ranks of the upcoming sci-fi dystopian adventure is Jai Courtney of 'A Good Day to Die Hard' and 'Spartacus' fame.
Prepare yourself to hear a whole lot about 'Divergent' this year. The film, based on the first in a planned Young Adult novel trilogy, is being pegged as the next 'Hunger Games,' and its star, Shailene Woodley, could just be the next Jennifer Lawrence. Now the film gets a little closer to becoming a reality with the filling of three crucial supporting roles.
'Divergent,' one of the latest batch of dystopian young adult novels in development for the big screen just found its Jennifer Lawrence in actress Shailene Woodley, best known for her role in last year's 'The Descendants.'
Summit isn't wasting any time following the end of the 'Twilight' franchise. Next up is 'Divergent,' the first in a trilogy of young adult books by Veronica Roth. And Summit is eyeing director Neil Burger ('Limitless') for the job.
