The 2015 Emmy Awards have made us laugh all night, but now it’s time to recognize an actual TV series for such an honor. Veep has officially taken home the statue for Outstanding Comedy Series, beating out some especiallly impressive competition.

"I've been directed by Mel Brooks, everyone," said creator Armando Ianucci, who noted that Veep proved anyone, no matter how incompetent, can achieve their dream jobs. The brief speech overshadowed the surprise win for Veep, where Transparent had garnered some major wins. Poor Parks and Recreation, though, which wrapped up its final season this year.

Tonight’s nominees included FX’s Louie, ABC’s Modern Family, NBC’s Parks and Recreation, HBO’s Silicon Valley, Amazon’s Transparent, and Netflix’s Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Last year, Modern Family took home the honor.

Well, did Veep deserve the win? Who got snubbed the hardest? Be sure to check out our master list of tonight’s winners, and stay tuned for more from the 2015 Emmy Awards!
