Last week we got a look at Jason Momoa’s Aquaman trying his very best to spin his trident in new Justice League set footage, and now we have a look at Mera, the Queen of Atlantis and Aquaman’s wife.

Amber Heard’s Mera will make her first appearance in Zack Snyder’s Justice League before showing up alongside Momoa in Aquaman. IGN debuted the first images and concept art for her sea queen, which shows Heard in a dark green suit and a greenish, silver crown. The costume was designed by Michael Wilkinson.

Here’s a look at the final concept art, a sketch and a video showing the evolution of the character’s costume design from IGN:

The costume sorta evokes the design of Mera in the comics, as far as the shine of her green scales and her tri-pointed crown. But instead of the more fitted, spandex look of the suit from the comics, this version looks a lot more robotic and kinda uncomfortable. It also looks a bit like the new Power Rangers costumes, (and as our own Britt Hayes says, a lot like Elizabeth Banks’ Rita Repulsa) – clunky and heavy. Can she really wear that thing underwater?

We also recently got a look at early costume designs for the Flash and Cyborg. Here’s the full synopsis of Justice League:

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes — Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash — it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions

Justice League opens in theaters on November 17, 2017. Aquaman hits theaters on July 27, 2018.
