This past week’s ‘Arrow’ 2015 premiere “Left Behind” dropped a major surprise in its last few minutes, but also speedy was Laurel’s assumption of the Black Canary mantle, costume and all. That rush to justice might cost her however, as photos and clips from next week’s all-new ‘Arrow’ installment “Midnight City” show all is not well in Starling just yet.

You’re warned of potential spoilers for this past Wednesday’s ‘Arrow’ from here on out, but let’s just say that Oliver’s speedy recovery won’t undo the chaos of Danny “Brick” Brickwell (Vinnie Jones)’s assault on Starling City, nor prepare the remaining Team Arrow to step up any further. Not only do Roy and Diggle continually struggle to pick up the slack, but Laurel’s amateur efforts as the new Black Canary put everyone—especially herself—at risk.

Meanwhile, Ray Palmer and Felicity take a break from super-suiting to converse with Starling’s Mayor (yep, they got a new one!), before Brick crashes the party. Also, Thea’s DJ boyfriend is back. Hooray. So reads The CW’s synopsis of “Midnight City”:

SUIT UP — Arsenal (Colton Haynes) and Diggle (David Ramsey) confront Laurel (Katie Cassidy) about trying to step into her sister’s shoes and warn her to stop before she gets herself killed. However, when Brick (guest star Vinnie Jones) kidnaps the city’s Aldermen and threatens to kill them all unless the police evacuate The Glades, it’s all suits on deck.

Meanwhile, Ray (Brandon Routh) steps in to help Lance (Paul Blackthorne) and the police force fight Brick, showing Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) a new side of her boss. Malcom (John Barrowman) tells Thea (Willa Holland) that Ra’s al Ghul (Matt Nable) is after him and his family and they must leave town immediately.

In addition to the full set of photos above, producer Marc Guggenheim previews Laurel’s rocky road to filling her sister’s leather, but what say you? Is ‘Arrow’ season 3 heating up, even with Oliver still out in the cold? How do you think “Midnight City” will test Team Arrow? Check out the previews above and below, and give us your predictions in the comments!
