Arrow‘ and ‘The Flash‘ fans are already eagerly anticipating the upcoming two-night crossover event, but could an even more ‘Super’ hero lie in their future? We’ve heard time and time again that DC intends to keep its TV and movie continuities separate, but a new report suggests CBS’ upcoming ‘Supergirl‘ series could well come to play with The CW’s red and green-suited superheroes in the future.

Take this one with a grain of salt for now, but KSiteTV points to an upcoming Entertainment Weekly profile of executive producer Greg Berlanti, who teases that ‘Supergirl’ might share the universe we’ve seen ‘Arrow’ and ‘The Flash’ occupying in recent years. The notion that CBS owns The CW could potentially allow the three series a chance at crossover, as the profile suggests:

Later in the afternoon at his other office on the Warner Bros. lot, Berlanti meets with fellow producer Ali Adler and Oscar-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood to go over looks for their upcoming revamp of Supergirl. The show will follow 24-year-old Kara Zor-El, Superman’s cousin, and with a twist that that could melt fanboy brains, Berlanti says it’s possible this Supergirl could enter the worlds of Arrow and The Flash.

Granted, ‘Supergirl’ has yet to receive a formal series order, and we’d expect CBS would naturally want to build up its own series before ever even considering the notion of introducing the character into the lower-budget CW shows. That said, we’ve seen The CW manage some pretty impressive and consistent effects around ‘The Flash,’ and it might prove just as easy to trade mentions for the time being, rather than actually share any screens.

We’ll learn more as ‘Supergirl’ comes to fruition, and “Flash vs. Arrow“ kicks off the crossover craziness on December 2, concluded the following night with ‘Arrow’'s “The Brave and the Bold,” but what do you think? The ‘Supergirl’ series seems to have phased out the existence of Superman himself, but would you want to see Kara Zor-El meeting up with Oliver Queen or Barry Allen, however the crossover potential shakes out?
