Yesterday, we heard official confirmation, straight from the man himself, that Ben Affleck would not be helming the 'Justice League' movie. Now, right on cue, there is a new rumor swirling about the internets about who may be taking the director's seat. Well, make that director's seats.

Moviehole is reporting that Warner Bros' shortlist of directors for the project includes Lana and Andy Wachowski, the duo behind the iconic 'Matrix' trilogy, the shamefully overlooked 'Speed Racer' and the upcoming 'Cloud Atlas,' which is one of our most anticipated movies of the year. In fact, it could be their latest project that puts them to the top of the list. To quote Moviehole's Clint Morris:

"What I’m told is Warner Bros are apparently jazzed with 'Cloud Atlas,' and love that it’s as much a spectacle as it is a showcase for the immense ensemble involved, so it makes sense the W’s are under consideration."

Of course, "under consideration" is not the same thing as "got the job," so label all of this "rumor" before you get too excited or worried. Although the Wachowskis would make perfect sense for this project (what is the final fight in 'The Matrix Revolutions' if not a perfect Superman VS Super Villain brawl?), this is far from a sure thing, especially since they're on a list that includes other filmmakers who may want the gig. Not to mention, the Wachowskis often take years between projects and make movies that are personal to them in some way. Would they be interested in a work-for-hire job like this, even if it's destined to be a huge blockbuster?

What do you think? Would you like to see the Wachowskis tackle 'Justice League'?
