After so much silence and so many disquieting rumors and so much nothing, the floodgates have truly opened for the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot. On the heels of a trailer that gives us our first real look at the titular superhero team in action comes a series of character posters, letting us truly soak in every crack in Ben Grimm’s rocky visage and every stitch in Johnny Storm’s “containment suit.”

Like so many modern movie posters, each of these posters ultimately form one giant banner depicting all of the Fantastic Four in a line-up. Like so many modern movie posters, any empty space is filled by fire and debris and sparks. Like so many modern movie posters, the background of each poster is a city in peril, which makes the cool and casual poses of each superhero a little weird when you stop and think about it.

In other words, these are fairly typical character posters for the year 2015. But hey! You can see the Baxter Building, the headquarters of the Fantastic Four, if you look above Sue Storm’s head.

As nervous as we are about this movie, seeing all four members of the team side-by-side is genuinely cool image. This is so different from the previous cinematic incarnation of the team that it’s impossible to not be curious. Forget about whether or not this movie will be faithful to the source material and focus on the fact that this is a sci-fi adventure movie starring Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Bell. That’s very cool.

Fantastic Four is directed by Josh Trank and will arrive in theaters on August 7, 2015.
