Wally West Probably Won’t Become ‘The Flash’ in Season 4
The Flash Season 3 ended on something of a grim note for Barry Allen, opening the door for our fall premiere to shake up the status quo. Don’t expect Wally West to go full-on Flash in Season 4, however, as Keiynan Lonsdale teases the young speedster has “so much growing to do.”
You’re warned of full spoilers for The Flash Season 3 from here on out, but considering Savitar turned out to be an evil Barry Allen from the future, it made sense of “Finish Line” to end with Barry accepting a time-out in the Speed Force. Leaving Central City down a speedster seemingly allows for Lonsdale’s Wally West to shed the “Kid” Flash moniker, as comic destiny would suggest, but the former Divergent player downplayed said likelihood to Newsweek:
It’s not something that’s on my radar. I feel as though there is so much story to tell and Wally has so much growing to do. I’d like to see that journey continue. That’s what I think is important. We need to see how these character realistically get to where they are headed for.
The outlet does note that Lonsdale has become somewhat spoiler-phobic since accidentally revealing Rick Cosnett’s return in Season 3, though he did stress that yellow remains his character’s preferred color; not red. We’re bound to see some new looks (not to mention casting for Season 4 big bad “The Thinker”) in the next few weeks, so might Wally West step up regardless?
Stay tuned for the latest on The Flash Season 4 in the meantime.
