'Homeland' won't be signing off for good any time soon, what with the truckload of Emmy accolades given for the first season, and the second's ratings recently overtaking 'Dexter,' but that isn't about to stop producers Howard Gordon and Gideon Raff from launching the next buzzy drama. The pair have teamed with FX and a former 'LOST' writer to develop 'Tyrant,' a new Middle Eastern intrigue drama that has all the executives excited. Who is the 'Tyrant,' and why will it have you talking?

Could FX have just snagged TV's next great drama? That's the hype surrounding recent pick-up 'Tyrant,' developed by 'Homeland' producers Howard Gordon and Gideon Raff, along with 'LOST' writer Craig Wright. The series centers on a family that gets drawn into Middle Eastern politics when an Arab state dictator dies, leaving American son as the new head of the country.

“The brilliant and wholly original concept just blew us away," says FX Executive Vice President of Programming Nick Grad. "It’s pretty amazing when you read a script and can instantly imagine it becoming one of the best shows on television.” Hopefully we'll get judge for ourselves, since FX has yet to issue an official series order.

What say you? Does 'Tyrant' sound like the next buzz-worthy drama on FX, or would it be better off on pay-cable?  Let us know what you think in the comments!
