The producers of 'Boy Meets World's' upcoming sequel/spinoff series 'Girl Meets World' remain adamant that their new pilot will be its own show, rather an attempt to recreate the original ABC comedy, but certain aspects are looking pretty familiar already. Joining the recently cast "rebellious best friend," youngster newcomer Teo Halm has joined the cast of 'Girl Meets World' in the role of Riley Matthews' older brother Elliott! Find out about Cory and Topanga's other child and the latest on 'Girl Meets World' inside!

It isn't yet known if many of the supporting cast from 'Boy Meets World' will show up in either the pilot for 'Girl Meets World' or the potential series going forward, but certain characters will very much be present in spirit. TVLine reports that young star Teo Holm has officially joined the pilot in the role of Riley's older brother Elliott Matthews, a role which shares more than a few points in common with Corey's own elder brother Eric Matthews (Will Friedle).

From Entertainment Weekly's original description of the character:

Elliott Matthews, 13. Cory and Topanga’s son. This guy will start the series as a “thinking man’s jock.” He’s described as “good looking, well built, funny and insightful in his observations. Good hearted except for his dedication toward using Riley (Blanchard) as his wrestling practice dummy. His parents worry that he has inherited the ‘Eric Matthews Algernon’ gene and will lose intelligence as time goes by.”

So far, the series features Rowan Blanchard and Sabrina Carpenter in the roles of Cory and Topanga’s daughter Riley Matthews, and Riley’s Shawn Hunter-esque friend Maya Fox, with Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel reprising their roles from the original series. Several other young roles resembling the 'Boy Meets World' players have yet to be cast.

What say you? Is 'Girl Meets World' shaping up to be in the proper spirit of 'Boy Meets World,' with Elliott Matthews on board? Give us your thoughts in the comments!
