‘Homeland’ Season 3: Which Star Is Stepping Down?
It's been a good long while since we've heard any 'Homeland'-related news, with season 3 set to pick up sometime in September along with Showtime's new drama 'Masters of Sex.' And while season 2 finale "The Choice" left plenty of characters and stories in limbo, now it seems another character won't have a very large story going forward. Find out who's stepping down as a series regular for 'Homeland' season 3 inside!
Opinions on 'Homeland' season 2 ran the gamut, but few disagreed with the fact that increased screen time and involvement of David Marciano's surveillance confidante Virgil helped to flesh out Carrie and offer occasional moments of levity. Now, Deadline reveals that Marciano will step down as series regular for the upcoming third season, while potentially appearing in several episodes as a recurring guest.
Marciano is the second series regular to take a reduced role in the third season, as Diego Klattenhoff (Mike) similarly stepped down from his post earlier in the year. Morena Baccarin is expected to reprise her series regular role as Jessica Brody, in spite of her husband’s wrongly accused absence. Series regulars David Harewood, Jamie Sheridan and Navid Negahban exit the series as well, given their characters' fates.
In addition, ‘Homeland’ producer Howard Gordon earlier confirmed that Damian Lewis (Brody) would return despite his character’s predicament, stating at the TCA press tour, “He’s alive so of course he’ll be back. One of the great challenges of next [season] is how he’ll be back. But there’s no doubt that he will be back.” According to Deadline, credible rumors suggest that Brody may appear in Venezuela at the outset of 'Homeland' season 3.
Well, what say you? Are you disappointed the 'Homeland' season 3 cast seems even smaller? Where do you think Carrie and Brody will wind up next?
