While the second season of Showtime's 'Homeland' has admittedly suffered somewhat in its critical accolades, fans remain on pins and needles waiting for this Sunday's second season finale "The Choice." Most of the main terrorist threats to Carrie Matheson have seemingly run their course, but does that mean Nicholas Brody must exit the story, one way or the other? Golden Globe and SAG award nominee Damian Lewis tells us what to expect!

'Homeland' may continue cleaning up at the awards, recently garnering nominations for both Screen Actors Guild awards and Golden Globes, but could it have come so far without the masterful performance of Damian Lewis as the troubled soldier-turned-congressman Nicholas Brody? As we approach the 'Homeland' season 2 finale, is the show about to kill off one of its star players?

Certainly, things don't bode well for Brody considering his lack of further usefulness to the CIA, and Peter Quinn's attempt to assassinate him, but what does Damian Lewis himself have to say? Lewis recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly, of course playing coy about the finale, but teasing that he'd gladly accept any fate the show would offer him. Despite being signed for next season, and seasons beyond, Lewis portends "They can kill me whenever they want." As for the CIA black ops nipping at his heels:

Well, you know, Quinn is clearly there doing somebody’s bidding. It speaks nicely to the theme of people being watched — even within the CIA. And I think Quinn will have a large part to play in the last episode. We’ll have to see. Maybe Quinn gets a bullet — or maybe he’ll be around for more of being a menace.

It goes to show that all is not what it seems — that’s another great theme of the [show]. There are surface characteristics and then what goes on underneath. It’s sort of Hamlet-ian. So it’s difficult [to say] because all is not what it seems in Homeland. Anyone can turn at any point. We’ll see.

What do you think? Would 'Homeland' kill off Brody, especially given the awards Damian Lewis continues bringing to the series? Where could the story go in season 3? Watch the preview for Sunday's 'Homeland' season 2 finale "The Choice" below, and give us your predictions in the comments!
