Julia Roberts Eyes TV ‘Homecoming’ With ‘Mr. Robot’ Creator
Julia Roberts seems to have taken a liking to TV after HBO miniseries Today Will Be Different. The Wonder star is now lining up another TV Homecoming, joined by Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Roberts is in talks to join the series based on the fictional podcast of the same name, described as “as a political thriller centering on a caseworker at a secret government facility.” Roberts would take the role of the caseworker’s supervisor, while Esmail writes and executive produces as part of his overall deal with Universal Cable Productions.
Created by Eli Horowitz, the podcast features the voice talents of Catherine Keener, Oscar Isaac and David Schwimmer. The as-yet-unattached TV version will feature Gimlet Media’s Micah Bloomberg, Alicia Van Couvering, Chris Giliberti, Alex Blumberg and Matt Lieber as executive producers.
Roberts also has HBO’s Today Will Be Different miniseries lined up, while Esmail is working on a miniseries adaptation of sci-fi classic Metropolis, atop Mr. Robot Season 3. Stay tuned for more Homecoming details as they arrive.
