Since it doesn't look like Guillermo del Toro's 'Hulk' TV series will be getting out of the lab any time soon, it's about time that Marvel started looking toward its live-action TV options.  The 'Hulk' wasn't necessarily going to fit into Marvel's cinematic universe of 'The Avengers' anyway, but now reports are coming in that ABC wants to set a new live-action TV series within the realm established by Joss Whedon's blockbuster movie franchise.

The real question is, who would the series focus on, and would any of 'The Avengers' show up?

According to Deadline, Marvel is looking to stretch its live-action TV legs by developing a new show with ABC to be set within the cinematic Marvel universe established by this summer's 'The Avengers.'  However, the connection with 'The Avengers' would be light, the series said to feature feature "some of its themes and feel" but not necessarily any of the actual characters from the film.

Right now the project remains in the developmental stages, said to be  “a kernel of an idea,” with a number of potential scenarios to explore, one of which could be a "high-concept cop show."  For fans of the Marvel cinematic universe, it would likely seem prudent to center a potential series on S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, enabling any number of unused Marvel characters to pop up in their day-to-day dealings.

Following Disney's ownership of ABC and purchase of Marvel, finding some kind of primetime TV presence for the comic company has been a priority, but little progress has been made beyond Guillermo del Toro's 'Hulk,' currently shopping around new writers.

What say you?  Do you think ABC could make a live-action Marvel TV series happen?  How should the show be angled, and what characters would you like to see?  Give us your ideas in the comments below!
