Netflix has remained considerably tight on spoilers for the second seasons of its returning hits, notably given 'Orange is the New Black' season 2 won't come out from under lockdown until mid 2014. That said, the cast and crew were recently on hand in New York to discuss the coming season, from the expanded scope of flashbacks to the still-mysterious exit of Laura Prepon from the series.

As fans learned over the summer, Prepon's sudden exit from 'Orange is the New Black' season 2 brought with it a bit of controversy, including that the actress would supposedly only appear in a solitary episode to wrap up her story. Speaking from the PaleyFest panel in New York the other day, show creator Jenji Kohan wouldn't offer specific comments on the matter, but did say that "You will definitely see her," while star Natasha Lyonne assured that Prepon's "gonna be back some."

Elsewhere, the cast was willing to offer that 'OitNB' season 2 would divide itself more as an ensemble piece than simply follow Piper (Taylor Schilling), Kohan previewing that "As much as I love Piper and Taylor and her journey, I think people are interested in everybody's journey." That division will include learning more about characters whose pasts were skipped over by the first season, including Crazy Eyes (Uzo Aduba), Poussé (Samira Wiley), Black Cindy's (Adrienne Moore) and Taystee (Danielle Brooks).

Should the Netflix series proceed to a third season (season 2 recieved a pickup before the first had even premiered, so consider it a safe bet), Kohan revealed that Litchfield's guards too would be explored in depth, while the second season will be sure to keep around characters like Larry (Jason Biggs) and Taryn Manning's Pennsatucky.

In addition to Prepon’s departure and Taryn Manning’s elevation to series regular, ‘Orange is the New Black’ season 2 will see both Uzo Aduba (fan-favorite Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren) and Danielle Brooks’ character Tasha ‘Taystee’ Jefferson similarly upgraded. Lorraine Toussaint has joined the Netlix drama’s second season in a heavily recurring role as Vee, a longtime street tough who ran her own drug business, recruiting children to serve as runners.
