New ‘Oz The Great and Powerful’ Pics: More of the Witches and a (Semi-)Look at China Country

The full trailer for Sam Raimi's 'Oz The Great and Powerful' will reportedly drop in just a couple days, so we've floated in a handful of new stills from the film to get you warmed up. So, what's knew that we haven't already seen? You'll get fresh looks at Michelle Williams, Rachel Weisz and Mila Kunis -- as the prequel's trio of witches -- as well as a cute monkey, because every movie needs one.

UPDATE: More photos from 'Oz: The Great and Powerful' were released after this article went to publish. In the new stills, we get an even clearer shot of Rachel Weisz as Evanora standing in a massive treasury with James Franco's Oscar Diggs character. What's the significance of all this gold? Is this where the "Golden Cap" from the book is kept? (In 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz,' the Golden Cap was used by the Wicked Witch of the West to summon her army of winged monkeys.) Or will it perhaps become the material used in the creation of the Yellow Brick Rock? Or is it simply a loan from Evanora? We'll have to wait and see!

Opening in 3D and 2D on March 8, 2013, 'Oz the Great and Powerful' imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum’s beloved character, The Wizard of Oz, who started out as Oscar Diggs, a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, who is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz.
