Vin Diesel loves his character 'Riddick.' Like a lot. Perhaps because the film 'Pitch Black' was one of his first hits. Unfortunately he and writer/director David Twohy were given the keys to the kingdom with the sequel 'The Chronicles of Riddick' and it tanked. But the success of the last two (and possibly three with the newest) 'Fast and Furious' films gave Diesel more clout, so he pushed for a new 'Riddick' film. Now there's a teaser trailer.

And it's pretty quick, but it works. It's either in theaters now, or scheduled to be shown before 'G.I. Joe: Retaliation,' perhaps because of some mental connection between Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Diesel for their work together in 'Fast Five' and 'Fast and Furious 6.'

But if Diesel didn't get to do this movie, one imagines that he would spend his time making it in his backyard, perhaps getting friends to come over, and setting up a big tarp to simulate the nighttime, as his character has the gift to see in total darkness. He would probably wreck the yard doing it, and would likely have his allowance suspended for two months, with additional garbage duties, a week's grounding, and no television after dinner. 'Riddick' opens September 6.
