The first trailer for writer/director Martin McDonagh's 'Seven Psychopaths' introduces us to the hilarious world of seven (duh) psychopaths (obviously), whose paths cross when two of them kidnap a Shih Tzu. Yes, one of those fancy yippy dogs.

Martin McDonagh is known for his 2008 comedic crime film 'In Bruges,' and if the trailer for 'Seven Psychopaths' is any indication, we're in for a real treat. The tone is in keeping with his previous effort, reuniting him with 'In Bruges' star Colin Farrell.

Farrell stars with Christopher Walken, Sam Rockwell, Woody Harrelson, Abbie Cornish, Olga Kurylenko, Tom Waits, and Zeljko Ivanek in this tale of doggy theft gone awry. When two ridiculous criminals mistakenly kidnap the dog of a crazy gangster, their screenwriter friend becomes unwittingly entangled in the ordeal, sending them all on a wacky, crime-fueled romp through Los Angeles.

The trailer highlights some great comedic beats in the film, particularly involving a disaffected Walken who refuses to put his hands up when faced with a gun-toting Ivanek. There's also some good chemistry between Farrell, Walken, and Rockwell in the final scene of the trailer, wherein the gentlemen contemplate the meaning of the phrase, "An eye for an eye leaves the world blind."

And also Tom Waits is holding a bunny -- where else do you get to see stuff like this?

'Seven Psychopaths' hits theaters on October 12.
