‘Sons of Anarchy’ Taps Harold Perrineau for Season 5 Big Bad
Who's ready to get 'LOST?' We already learned that FX's 'Sons of Anarchy' season 5 had cast 'NYPD Blue' vet and former 'Dexter' guest star Jimmy Smits in a major recurring role, but now they've set their heights a little higher on a new big bad to plague SAMCRO in the days ahead. But who is this mysterious villain, and what ties does he have to previous seasons?
TVLine exclusively announced today that former 'LOST' and 'The Matrix' sequels star Harold Perrineau has landed a major guest turn on the fifth season of Kurt Sutter's FX motorcycle drama 'Sons of Anarchy,' According to the report, Perrineau will take the role of Damon Pope, a former drug lord whose character was heavily foreshadowed in previous season 4 finale "To Be, Act 2," when an innocent bystander killed in Tig (Kim Coates)'s rampage against a rival gang was revealed to be the notorious drug lord's daughter.
After - SPOILER ALERT- Jax (Charlie Hunnam) took the head of the SAMCRO table at the end of last season, series creator and show-runner Kurt Sutter told TVLine that "definitely wanted to lay some track for Season 5 and put some complications already on Jax’s shoulder as he’s sitting at the head of the table. He’s already got a problem."
Perrineau joins fellow major season 5 guest star Jimmy Smits, who will play Neron “Nero” Padilla, “a Latino gangbanger with an exit strategy who becomes a dangerous mentor for Jax.” It remains uncertain if major season 4 guest star Danny Trejo will have any involvement with the coming season, though the show is guaranteed through at least a sixth year.
What say you? Will Perrineau cast an imposing menace for the 'Sons of Anarchy,' or simply run around screaming his child's name all the time as on 'LOST?' Who would you like to see guest in the new season? Give us a casting call in the comments below!
