Princess Leia Arrives on ‘Star Wars Rebels’ in New Clip and Photos

Yesterday brought word that Star Wars Rebels would take Princess Leia back to the past, even if Carrie Fisher wasn’t along for the ride, and today we have our best look yet. See for yourself, as the adopted daughter of Alderaan runs afoul of Kanan and Ezra in the latest clip and photos of January 20 outing “A Princess on Lothal!”

However jarring not to have Carrie Fisher at the microphone after Star Wars:The Force Awakens (Julie Dolan voices the part for animation), Princess Leia makes her presence known on Lothal in the first photos, masquerading as a loyal Empire subject, but secretly colluding with the titular Rebels:

Says show boss Dave Filoni of the younger Leia:

We thought we had an opportunity to show her learning to be a leader, experimenting with the personality that becomes the stronger more resolute character you see in A New Hope. One of the complex challenges of depicting Leia in Rebels is that we have to remind the audience that at this point she is part of the Empire. She doesn’t believe in the Empire, but she is acting the part, almost a double agent.
