The broadcast season got off to a head-rolling start with last night's 'Sleepy Hollow' premiere, but 'Supernatural' fans will need to wait a bit long for their occult fix when season 9 finally premieres on October 8. The CW has unleashed a brand-new trailer to kick things off, with a shocking turn for Sam and the returns of fan favorites Bobby, Death and Abaddon!

Right off the bat in TVLine's new spot, Dean has some bad news to break to Sam: season 8 finale "Sacrifice" ended up with the younger Winchester biting the bullet...again! From the looks of things, Dean manages to get Sam to a hospital and enlist the aid of fallen angel Ezekiel ('Battlestar Galactica' vet Tahmoh Penikett) to get inside Sam's head, while both Death (Julian Richings) and Bobby (Jim Beaver) have some heavenly wisdom to impart as Dean fights for his brother's life.

Elsewhere, it seems Abaddon (Alaina Huffman) has indeed risen again with intent to take Crowley's seat as the King of Hell, nearly sending Dean there to deliver the message! And where's Castiel in all this, you ask? Putting his new mortal form to task helping others, even those who mysteriously back him over the head with wooden beams!

Premiering October 8, ‘Supernatural’ season 9 will also feature the return of Felicia Day‘s Charlie Bradbury, and ABC ‘Whodunit’ host Gildart Jackson will appear in a significant “Men of Letters” flashback. Executive producers Jeremy Carver and Robert Singer have otherwise previewed the CW drama’s ninth year, particularly the expanded role angels would play in the mythology going forward, and a secret that Dean will be keeping from Sam.

Well, what are you waiting for? Check out the newest 'Supernatural' season 9 spot in the trailer above, and give us your predictions for the October 8 premiere in the comments!
