'13 Assassins,' for those of you who haven't seen it, is one of the coolest samurai epics ever put to film. Director Takashi Miike - who has directed over seventy productions since 1991 - returns for another samurai film that looks to be just as amazing, and the official trailer is now online.

'Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai' is Takashi Miike's newest movie and judging from the trailer alone, looks to be just as intense and action packed as '13 Assassins' was. The official synopsis is below:

A mysterious samurai arrives at the doorstep of his feudal lord, requesting an honorable death by ritual suicide in his courtyard. The lord threatens him with the brutal tale of Motome, a desperate young ronin who made a similar request with ulterior motives, only to meet a grisly end. Undaunted, the samurai begins to tell a story of his own, with an ending no one could see coming. The latest film from visionary auteur Takashi Miike (13 ASSASSINS), HARA-KIRI: DEATH OF A SAMURAI is a thrilling exploration of revenge, honor, and individuality in the face of oppressive power.

Sounds cool, right? A different take on the usual samurai tale with a twist ending. Course if the twist is he takes off a mask and reveals himself to be Tom Cruise then Japanese cinema may burn to the ground faster than Godzilla destroying Tokyo. 'Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai' is schedule to be released On Demand July 18, and in theaters July 20.
