‘Teen Titans Go! To the Movies’ Trailer: Nic Cage Is Finally Superman
Nicolas Cage as Superman is one of those great “what might’ve been” Hollywood stories. (Whether or not Tim Burton’s Superman movie would’ve actually been any good is besides the point.) Now, 20 years later, Cage is finally fulfilling his destiny — sort of — in Teen Titans Go! To the Movies, making his debut as (the voice of) the Man of Steel in the first full trailer for the upcoming animated film.
In addition to Cage’s Superman, which is definitely awesome, the trailer for Teen Titans Go! To the Movies is filled with some great self-aware humor: There’s a trailer-within-a-trailer for an Alfred solo movie based on Batman’s butler and BFF (sorry, Robin), and a dig at the Green Lantern movie (“We don’t talk about that”).
For those unfamiliar, Teen Titans Go! was the more humorous little-sibling spinoff from the Teen Titans animated series. The film’s meta-plot centers on the super-kids — Robin (Scott Menville), Starfire (Hynden Walch), Raven (Tara Strong), Cyborg (Khary Payton), and Beast Boy (Greg Cipes) — as they try to convince a Hollywood director (Kristen Bell) to put them in their very own superhero movie. Along the way, they’ll also contend with the villainous Slade, voiced by Will Arnett.
Teen Titans Go! To the Movies also features Halsey as Wonder Woman and Lil Yachty as Green Lantern, and hits theaters on July 27.
