Will 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' feature Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx as the villain Electro? We were all a bit floored when news hit that the 'Django Unchained' star was in talks to play this comic book character, and even moreso when he tweeted about dressing up as the electricity-hurling bad guy for Halloween. While the deal has not been finalized yet, it certainly seems like it is, especially after what 'Amazing Spider-Man' director Marc Webb had to say.

When asked about it by Fandango during a phone conversation for the DVD/Blu-ray release of his first Spidey film, Webb tried the "play dumb" approach, but soon had to fork over a solid comment:

“Look, Jamie Foxx is a genius actor, and I think he’s electrifying. That’s my standard quote right now. ... But I think he’s a brilliant actor. From his work back in 'In Living Color' to 'Ray' to what he did in 'Ali,' he’s just one of the great character actors of our generation.”

So for now, let's try to put this out of our minds a bit despite how exciting the news. There were some other details about 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' that's worth noting. Shailene Woodley has already been confirmed to play the role of Mary Jane Watson, while Emma Stone's Gwen Stacey might be killed off (if the comic book and Stone's previous statements have anything to do with the movie). But what other changes can we expect from the sequel?

In an interview with Collider, Webb stated:

“We’re taking it one at a time. I think one of the things I’ve learned [from 'The Amazing Spider-Man]… There are a lot of things that are harder than it seems, like designing the suit, for example. We’re doing some revising on that. We’re making some cool improvements on the suit. Just how it was surprising to me when I made '(500) Days of Summer' it was completely under the radar, you know what I mean? There were no paparazzi around snapping pictures of the set. As we were shooting the movie, you realize just how big and curious the audience is for 'Spider-Man,' how everybody feels a sense of ownership. And it’s really wonderful! That curiosity is pretty fantastic and inspiring, just to see how much people care about the character. It was staggering. It was overwhelming.”

A new Spider-Man suit? Looks like Webb is following in the footsteps of 'Iron Man 3.' But not only that, turns out we'll also get to see more of the story involving Peter Parker's parents: "I need to leave some juice for the second movie."

So what do you think? Are you pumped for 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2'? What the new details? Let us know what you think in the comments!
