
No. 7: ‘Holy Motors’ – Top 20 Movies of 2012
A daring examination of performance and identity that's smart, silly and sharply executed. On the one hand it is merely a collection of short films, yet the total experience exudes a melancholy spirit that seems just right. Personally I think some of the explicit references to cinema history deadens the impact, but the sum total of the film is still remarkable.
