One after the other, Marvel's 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' has been adding recognizable names and characters for the latter half of its inaugural season, from Hulkbusters, to Patton Oswalt and a famous cellist, and today is no exception. 'Twilight' franchise star Patrick Brennan is the latest name to join the ranks, portraying Marvel superhero Blackout, while a new sneak peek from "End of the Beginning" sees The Clairvoyant doing just as much damage.

As revealed by Marvel.com, Brennan will first appear in the April 15 installment "Providence," with a larger role to come in the subsequent episode, as the super-powered menace from cello player Audrey (Amy Acker)'s past that Coulson returns to defend her against. Going by the name Marcus Daniels, Marvel notes that Blackout's "darkforce" manipulating powers will be tweaked from the comics, as with the 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D' version of Daniels having the ability to suck the energy out of anything around him.

Says Brennan of the guest turn:

This is the way they explained it to me: This guy, Marcus Daniels, a.k.a. Blackout, was shrouded in darkness, his soul, everything about him was shrouded in darkness until he comes across this Cello player. And the music was the only light that came into his soul, and it gave him hope and it gave him some sense of what light was.

Apart from Acker and Brennan, intervening weeks for ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ will see Victoria Hand (Saffron Burrows), Jasper Sitwell (Maximilliano Hernandez), Blake (Titus Welliver) and John Garrett (Bill Paxton) all returning to battle the menace of Deathlok, while ‘Heroes‘ star Adrian Pasdar will put in an appearance as ‘Hulkantagonist Glenn Talbot, and Patton Oswalt will appear as comic character Eric Koenig.

It's hard to say at this point if the 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' incarnation of Blackout will prove any more successful than some of the other weak adaptations to date, but we like seeing them attempt comic lore all the same. In the meantime, you can check out Brennan in character above, and a brand-new sneak peek of April 1 installment "End of the Beginning" below!
