Whether or not 'American Horror Story' star Dylan McDermott's words about season 3 focusing on witches prove true, we're expecting the third year to have more in common with the first than its batsh-t crazy "Dark Cousin" 'American Horror Story: Asylum.' To that end, franchise player Frances Conroy has revealed that she'll have a larger role in the third cycle than she did the second time around, but what does she have to say of the rumored setting? Get the latest on 'American Horror Story' season 3 inside!

Even with a familiar-looking cast and two years of 'American Horror Story' in the pipeline, we're not sure what to expect from the upcoming third season. Series star Dylan McDermott seemingly slipped up recently by admitting the third cycle would follow witches in a Salem setting, but thus far very little has officially confirmed by series creator Ryan Murphy.

And while a number of past 'American Horror Story' alum will return for the third year, Frances Conroy recently spoke to ShockTilYouDrop, confirming that she'd have a larger presence in the third year than her deathly "Ultimate Angel" role from season 2:

It's going to start up again in July or August in New Orleans, I'll be part that and will have a fairly substantial part in it. I'll be in 10 of the episodes of what I think will be a 13-part season. That will be interesting to see what's written, the writers are so good and I can't wait to see where it goes.

Shooting in New Orleans might suggest at least some involvement of witches or magic, but Francis quickly downplayed confirming any specifics on the season's setting. "I know there's been a little bit of teasing, they're trying to keep it all hush hush so there are surprises. I'm interested in seeing what world we'll inhabit."

In addition to Conroy and the recent addition of 'Misery' star Kathy Bates as a villain of sorts, ‘American Horror Story’ season 3 has already recruited franchise regulars Jessica Lange, Lily Rabe, Taissa Farmiga, Evan Peters and Sarah Paulson, with the potential for others going forward. Prior series star Zachary Quinto has not been confirmed, and may sit the third round out as well if scheduling falls through.

Murphy has revealed only select details of the FX drama’s third season, including that season 3 would have a love story focus akin to the one between Violet and Tate in season 1. The season will be set in the modern day across several cities, occasionally dipping back into the past as the narrative requires. Murphy also previewed that Peters’ role will likely prove that of a “sobbing psychopath” once again, while Jessica Lange would be a “glamour cat leading lady” of sorts.

Well, what say you? Are you glad ‘American Horror Story’ season 3 will once again feature Frances Conroy in a central role? Where would you like to see the new season set?
