Star Wars Rebels has come to yet another temporary close with Season 3 finale “Zero Hour,” dealing the title heroes a harsh blow, and moving us one step closer to the Star Wars films. To wit, producers promise both Rogue One’s Saw Gerrera and Mon Mothma will return in Season 4, which already has its first concept art.

You’re warned of full spoilers for Star Wars Rebels Season 3 from here on out, but where “Zero Hour” didn’t quite land any gut-punches so devastating as the Ahsoka-Vader showdown, the Rebels are nonetheless headed for Yavin, having lost their Atollon base to Thrawn’s attack. In the process, Season 3 snuck in another Rogue One reference with the elite Death Troopers guarding Thrawn, while post-show Rebels Recon promised even more connections to come in Season 4.

As supervising producer Dave Filoni put it, “You will see Mon Mothma again, you’ll see Saw Gerrera again. You’ll get much more of an insight into seeing how that relationship breaks down and breaks apart.” Filoni also hinted overwhelmingly that the iconic X-Wing would finally make its Rebels debut, as well that Mandalore would play a major role, given that Rebels tends to provide closure on abandoned Clone Wars threads.

On that note, Filoni and Recon host Andi Gutierrez also shared the first official concept art from the new season.

Filoni didn’t specify if Forest Whitaker would be voicing Saw Gerrera again (it would seem odd if he didn’t), but what other Rogue One ties and overall Star Wars connections might Season 4 bring? Is a certain Fulcrum agent and his towering droid in the cards, now that Kallus is burned? How about a notable smuggler, soon to have his own story told?

We’ll learn more in the coming weeks, as well as at Star Wars Celebration, so stay tuned for more Star Wars Rebels.
