Adam Sandler Teaming Up With Chris Rock, Because Sandler’s Netflix Era Isn‘t Over Yet
Because Adam Sandler’s tyrannical reign on Netflix is far from over, he’s already working on his next movie. This time, he and his Grown Ups co-star Chris Rock are reteaming for a wedding comedy, titled The Week Of.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sandler and Rock will play two dads whose kids are getting married, and the film, directed by Triumph the Insult Comic creator Robert Smigel, will focus on the week leading up to the wedding. Nothing else is known about the film, but I’d bet good money that it involves some nutty hijinks on the parts of the dads, which is all resolved at the end. You know, like an Adam Sandler movie. The Week Of will begin production on Long Island this summer, and is set to debut on Netflix globally in 2018.
The Night Of is the last of a four-film deal Sandler has with Netflix, which began with The Ridiculous Six, The Do-Over, and has most recently given us Sandy Wexler (which critics are saying is actually not too bad). The first two of the deal are, according to THR, Netflix’s biggest film releases ever, which might have had something to do with Netflix renewing its contract with Sandler in March. That’s right, after Sandy Wexler, we’re getting five more Sandler movies to sift through in our Recommended For You streaming lists.
Sandler is also starring in Noah Baumbach’s The Meyerowitz Stories, which will be premiering at Cannes and hitting Netflix afterward.
