‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ Adds Walton Goggins to the Cast
Walton Goggins has officially joined the MCU. What a time to be alive. The character actor and star of Vice Principals, The Hateful Eight and the Tomb Raider reboot has signed on for Ant-Man and the Wasp, the upcoming sequel featuring Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly as the eponymous superheroes. Goggins is the third recent addition to the cast, joining fellow newcomers Randall Park (Fresh Off the Boat) and Hannah John-Kamen (Black Mirror) for Ant-Man’s next big (semi) solo adventure.
According to Deadline, Walton Goggins has officially come aboard the cast of Ant-Man and the Wasp. As with other recent castings, details on Goggins’ role are currently unknown, but considering his proclivity for playing antagonistic characters, it wouldn’t be surprising if he wound up causing a bit of trouble for Scott Lang & Co. That said, they could be casting against type, which would be even more surprising / interesting. Little is known about the sequel, but that may change later this week when Marvel takes over Hall H at Comic-Con.
Ant-Man director Peyton Reed is helming the sequel from a script by Rudd and Gabriel Ferrari. Michael Douglas, Michael Peña and T.I. will also reprise their roles for Ant-Man and the Wasp, which is scheduled to hit theaters on July 6, 2018.
It’s not the only recent major role for Goggins, who appears opposite Alicia Vikander in the Tomb Raider reboot and with Dylan O’Brien in Maze Runner: The Death Cure — both slated to arrive in 2018. Thankfully, we won’t have to wait until next year to get another Goggins fix: The second season of Vice Principals (co-starring Danny McBride) premieres on HBO on September 17.
