Huge news from the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Its tiniest hero is back. And he’s bringing backup.

Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang is back in action next summer in Ant-Man & The Wasp. This sequel to the 2015 comedy superhero film about a reformed criminal with the power to shrink, talk to ants, and tell jokes reunites Rudd with fellow Ant-Man cast members Michael Douglas (as Ant-Man Emeritus Hank Pym) and Evangeline Lilly (as Pym’s daughter Hope). And this time Lilly’s getting in on the action as her own superhero, the Wasp, who can shrink just like Ant-Man, but also can fly and shoot energy bolts. In the best part of this first trailer, Scott’s none too pleased that Hank bogarted all the best technology and gave it to his daughter instead of to him.

Here’s the plot synopsis:

In the aftermath of 'Captain America: Civil War,' Scott Lang grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a Super Hero and a father. As he struggles to re-balance his home life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he's confronted by Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym with an urgent new mission. Scott must once again put on the suit and learn to fight alongside The Wasp as the team works together to uncover secrets from their past.

The first Ant-Man was one of the weaker Marvel movies, but this looks pretty funny, plus even though we don’t see her here, Michelle Pffeiffer is also in the film as Janet van Dyne, the original Wasp, and that’s terrific casting. Ant-Man & The Wasp opens in theaters on July 6.
