Earlier this week we caught wind of a rumor floating around that 'Arrow' could potentially introduce iconic Batman villain "Ra's Al Ghul," teasing the character's appearance with upcoming episode title "The Demon's Head." Apart from a few initial confirmations, the Ra's Al Ghul rumor has since been debunked, with one official caveat: Enter the "League of Assassins!"

Though some sources confirmed that 'Arrow' season 2's fifth installment would indeed reference Ra's Al Ghul (famously played by Liam Neeson in 2005's ‘Batman Begins’) with the Arabic-translated title "The Demon's Head," executive producer Marc Guggenheim has since clarified on Twitter that episode 5 will instead bear the title "League of Assassins."

The title's reference to the DC organization of the same name ('League of Shadows' in the Chrisopher Nolan-verse) more or less confirms that we'll see the group take a major presence in season 2, though not necessarily headed by the more Batman-associated Ra's Al Ghul. ‘Arrow”s Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman) had previously made reference to the League’s comic stronghold of Nanda Parbat, suggesting that we might see the group in the future.

In addition to incorporating Metamorpho, The Atom and The Flash, ‘Arrow’ season 2 will pick up on October 9 some time after the events of season 1 finale “Sacrifice,” continuing its ‘Batman Begins’-influenced storytelling with the addition of new villains Isabel Rochev (Summer Glau), Brother Blood (Kevin Alejandro), Bronze Tiger (Michael Jai White) and DC character Sin (‘The Killing”s Bex Taylor Klaus). Guest stars Colton Haynes (Roy Harper), Emily Bett Rickards (Felicity Smoak) and Manu Bennett (Slade Wilson) have all been upgraded to series regulars for the second year in Starling City.

Exciting news nonetheless, but what say you, 'Arrow' fans? Are you excited to see the League of Assassins play a role in season 2, even without a Batman association? What other DC villains do you think will make appearances this year?
