We’re weeks away from the bigger Arrow announcements at Comic-Con 2016, but that isn’t stopping this weekend’s Heroes & Villains FanFest from adding a few new details to Season 5's quiver. Not only does star Stephen Amell have a new take on The Flash’s time-turning twist, but so too will Season 5 bring Arrow back to its roots, at least until Supergirl arrives.

Where previously Stephen Amell had downplayed suggestions that “Flashpoint” would affect Season 5 of Arrow, the CW star sang a different tune at a weekend panel, without specifying if Arrow Season 5 or The Flash Season 3 would host any significant changes to Oliver Queen’s timeline:

That said, another appearance saw Amell again promising that Season 5 would return to the show’s original mission statement, as well wrapping up the Russian portion of flashbacks that have gone unaddressed in recent seasons (via TVLine):

The villain that we are introducing is a direct result of things that Oliver has done in Star City [and] calls back to a lot of things that happened in the first season of the show. It really grounds the show and really focuses on its core value, which is the battle to save Star City. The first two episodes [of Season 5] refocuses us on what the core mission of the show should be, and that to me is very exciting … Plus? Russia.

Grounding aside, Season 5 will still take part in the epic four-way crossover generated by Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl, for which star David Ramsey teased that Diggle (and his new helmet) would have an even Flash-ier reaction to the Girl of Steel:

I wanna see Diggle’s expression when he sees Supergirl flying across the horizon. I want to know what that is … He’s going to pee on himself right there.

Any and all CW series will surely have major announcements to come from Comic-Con 2016, but will Arrow Season 5 simultaneously ground itself, while still dealing with time-turning Flash twists and the imminent arrival of Supergirl? What big premiere moments should we expect from the October 5 debut?
