Though he's already won an Oscar for 'Traffic' and was nominated for 'Syriana,' Stephen Gaghan has been relatively quiet recently. But he's looking to get back into writing and directing with 'Candy Store,' which has lined up a powerhouse cast with Denzel Washington and Brad Pitt both in talks to join the film.

This news comes from The Hollywood Reporter, who describe the film as such: "A highly trained, deep cover operative starts his life over in Brooklyn as a beat cop only to discover the global organization he was dedicated to fighting is also operating in his new backyard." They also mention that Jamie Foxx was once up for one of the roles.

Gaghan may have been quiet on the directing front, but he also helped script the upcoming M. Night Shyamalan film 'After Earth,' which stars Will and Jaden Smith. Currently 'Candy Store' set up at Lionsgate, which is a good place for smaller thrillers, though the size of the production will likely have to due with the casting. Right now - if both stars sign - it could be a summer thriller. But the way casting works, if one or the other bounces the project could fall apart. Such is Hollywood.
