‘Daredevil’ Star Elodie Yung Wants Elektra to Face Off Against ‘The Defenders’
We wouldn’t dare spoil the second season of Marvel’s Netflix Daredevil for you (if you haven’t powered through, get on it!), but suffice to say, we’re not much clearer on what will bring The Defenders together than before. Season 2 star Elodie Yung has an idea, however, that Elektra might be better suited against the big Netflix team-up, rather than lead her own series.
You’re warned of some minor Daredevil Season 2 finale spoilers from here on out, but the death of Yung’s Elektra Natchios didn’t seem to stick for very long, what with one of the closing shots placing her body into that mysterious “Black Sky” chamber belonging to The Hand. Elektra has served as master to The Hand in comics multiple times, and may end up brushing against The Defenders when the time comes, Yung tells IGN:
I would love to appear in The Defenders. I don’t know – because hopefully she’ll maybe be on the bad side. I don’t know – I don’t know what they’d do with Elektra in The Defenders but that would be a good dynamic I think – to be confronted by these four superheroes and I think it would be interesting – I’d be curious to see what they do.
Yung certainly seemed more optimistic about appearing alongside Daredevil and his new friends than leading her own potential spinoff, saying:
I love Elektra. I really have a special place in my heart for her. It was very enjoyable for me to discover her and to adapt her for this project and bring myself to this character. So I have a special spot for her. Having my own show – it’s not something that I think of, it’s not. I think I would choose to do things because they are interesting, because I like a character or because it’s very well written. Or because it makes sense.
Elektra’s return could also likely have something to do with a third season of the Netflix Man Without Fear, something Marvel has yet to confirm, given the uncertain scheduling of its next series. Either way - would Elektra serve best in her own series, or as a Defenders antagonist?
All episodes of Daredevil Season 2 are now streaming on Netflix.\
