It’s the return of the Jedi.

That Jedi, obviously, is Obi-Wan Kenobi. For the first time since 2005’s Revenge of the Sith, Ewan McGregor will once again play the iconic Jedi Knight in Obi-Wan Kenobi, a limited series coming later this spring to Disney+. We’re inching closer to the show’s release, and with it, we’re starting to see some of the first images and teases of the show.

Entertainment Weekly’s final print cover story includes a batch of new images, along with some of the first details about the series’ story.

McGregor told EW that the Obi-Wan Kenobi of the series is not the man we know from the Star Wars prequels. This guy, he explains is “rather broken, and faithless, and beaten, somewhat given up.”

For sake of comparison, here’s what Obi-Wan looked like the last time we saw him compared to today:

Also returning to Star Wars for the series is Joel Edgerton, who played the young version of Luke Skywalker’s Uncle Owen in George Lucas’ Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith.

The new villain in the series is Inquisitor Reva who is hunting Jedis for the Empire. In the article she’s described as “relentless” and “ruthlessly ambitious.” (Although he wasn’t featured in any of the new photos from the series, Hayden Christensen’s Darth Vader will also appear on the show. Of her character’s relationship with Vader, Ingram said: “They share a common dark-side goal.”)

Obi-Wan Kenobi premieres on Disney+ on May 25, the 45th anniversary of the release of the very first Star Wars. The show will run for six weekly episodes.
