‘Fargo’ Season 3 Sets Jim Gaffigan to Police Eden Valley
It could be some time yet before FX’s Fargo digs any Season 3 footage out of the snow, but darn it all if this cast doesn’t feel like a spring breeze. The latest uncannily apt name to practice their “Minnesota Nice” is comedian Jim Gaffigan, setting a strong role opposite Carrie Coon with the Fargo police.
According to FX, the former Jim Gaffigan Show star will play the role of Eden Valley police deputy Donny Mashman, subordinate to Chief Gloria Burgle, as played by The Leftovers star Carrie Coon. Gaffigan joins the most recent addtion of Halt and Catch Fire star Scoot McNairy, though no official details of the latter’s role have yet been released.
Elsewhere of Fargo Season 3, we know that Ewan McGregor will play the dual role of brothers Emmit and Ray Stussy, the former a good-looking “Parking Lot King of Minnesota,” and the latter a resentful, flabby parole officer. The Leftovers favorite Carrie Coon will also take a central role as Gloria Burgle, chief of the Eden Valley Police, and a newly divorced mother struggling to understand the phone-obsessed world around her, while Mary Elizabeth Winstead plays Nikki Swango, described as “a crafty and alluring recent parolee with a passion for competitive bridge playing.”
The 2010-set season will explore “selfie-oriented culture,” shooting later this year for a 2017 bow. It’s likely Fargo Season 3 could drop a full cast list before long, but what other new and returning favorites should we hope for?
